Can someone please explain something

Apparently some schools like Melb High, Mac Rob get mark up for the SACs or exams or something. Is it true? if so, why is that the case. Also does doing the GAT well really help?

Thanks for your help

All of our SACs get moderated to keep the system fair for different schools. The way they moderate them is that they use the GAT and our exam scores to judge the strength of the cohort. Some schools always have high GAT and exam scores and so their SACs get moderated up.

Because their internals are harder than other schools so an 80% at MHS internally wouldn't be the same as an 80% at some dingy shithole public school

Not correct. Difficulty of SACs doesn't mean anything. In the end, it's only the ranking that's taken into account anyway. NE2000's reply is a more accurate explanation.

So if I get an awesome internal mark and an awesome exam mark but the rest of my cohort gets drastically lower (say I get an A+ but they all get C's) then I could still get marked down because the strength of my cohort is weak?

From my understanding of the system, no. In this case, you'll basically just inherit back your exam mark as your SAC mark after some moderation.

But it's far from a dingy shithole (I think).
