Hello,
we used a 250ml Volumetric Flask. Our average titration was 22.36ml. We used 2.65 g of brick cleaner. So ill just give you a brief overview of the experiment we did. Analysis of brick cleaner, we used a perviously prepared 0.1M Na2CO3 solution to try and find the concentration of hcl in a sample of brick cleaner.
we poured 2.65g of brick cleaner in250ml volumetric flask, then added deionised water until flask half full, mixed throughly.Used 20ml pipette to place 20ml of standard solution of Na2CO3 solution into 4 conical flasks of 100ml, then adding few drops of methyl orange indicator. Burette was the filled with brick cleaner solution . Titration commenced. Average titre =22.36ml
this is what we did
n(Na2CO3)=2.65/100 =2.65*10^-2
=2.65*10^-2/0.25=0.1 Mol
n(aliquot)=0.1 * 22.36/1000=0.002236mol
n(hcl)=0.002236mol * 2=0.004472
n(hcl) in VF = 0.004472/22.36 *250=0.05
(0.05*36.5)/2.65 =0.688 = 68%.
This is what we got but as u can see the percent is rather high and we think it is wrong. Can u pls tell what we did wrong. Also if u can awnser within the next 4 hours it would be helpful as it is due tday. Thank you much appreciated.
