3/4 VCE Chemistry without 1/2 - is this recommended?

Hi Atar notes! I hope I'm posting in the right spot!
I'm currently in year 11 doing the following unit 1/2s - further, methods, bio, and psych. Biology is actually the bane of my existence, so I'm thinking of dropping it for chem in year 12. I'm not exactly bad at bio. I understand the content, I just hate the amount of memorising and rote learning it involves and I feel unmotivated to study for it. From what I know, chem has more application which I'm interested in.
The problem is that I haven't done 1/2 chem. The school is okay with me picking it up without having done 1/2 but I'm unsure exactly how detrimental it would be without the foundation from year 11. Does anyone have any personal experience / advice?

What content from 1/2 also apply to 3/4? If I was to pick up chem in year 12, what are the topics / content that I should look over now, before year 12 actually starts?

Thank you! :D

Chemistry will definitely be more about understanding, application but there still is a bit a theory you will have to learn.

The most important parts to know before 3/4 are:
general understanding of the periodic table (you wont' be tested on it but I think you need it as an intro into the subject)
organic chemistry
Water
Acids/Bases
Redox
Stoichiometry
Bonding
and just more exposure to the jargon.

Chem 3/4 builds on 1/2 a decent amount, so if you want to do this you'll need to do work over the break to catch up but it's definitely possible

Sine's list of what you need to know is good - stoichiometry is incredibly important so that should be a priority

Good luck!
