intersection
fredrick:
hello, find the coordinates of the intersection of the 2 curves and .
i got the 2 equations into standard form(is that what you call it?)
am i doing it right? if so wat now?
cheers!
Collin Li:
I would have subtracted the first curve by the second curve multiplied by 4 to yield:
This would get an expression for y in terms of x, then I would substitute it back into either expression to get the intersections.
Ahmad:
A systematic way would be to divide the first one by 4, then set the equations equal to each other (since they're both equal to 0), which will result in a linear equation. Substitute y in terms of x from this linear equation into the second equation and solve for x. :)
fredrick:
ok i ended up with no real solution?
Ahmad:
