Zappi:
Good evening everyone  ;D

I've been going to VCESS and one of my classes is BusMan 3&4. Got a handout from the Cambridge textbook and realised how much better it is compared to the newest edition of the Jacaranda textbook  :o Layout's more intuitive, actually uses colourcoding, better examples / definitions, it just seems so much better.

I was just wondering if the Cambridge textbook is actually worth getting. I have a PDF of it but I'll definitely prefer a physical copy ^^;
Does it just look better or is Cambridge just more comprehensive?

Thank you!!

Hey there!

My school used the Jacaranda textbook (2017) and whilst I found that the concepts were perfectly explained in unit 3, the textbook lacked depth in its unit 4 chapters. This is where the Cambridge textbook was really advantageous, as it covered unit 4 with a lot more case studies and IMO, did so with greater clarity. As you've mentioned, the Jacaranda textbook has been updated since then, however. I think that if you have the funds available and are willing, there's no harm in using both resources to compile your notes from (this is what I did), however, it is not a necessity. Best of luck :)

Globe:
The Cambridge textbook is also great for potential case studies. Overall I didn't have many problems with this book, but occasionally it tends to waffle on for a bit with irrelevant information, especially in the later chapters so just be weary of that.

Zappi:
Thanks everyone! Set to pick the Cambridge textbook up tomorrow  :D

Bit worried now though, picked up the A+ BusMan Exam book (edition 6e, 2016) today when the seller said it was up-to-date, but I'm not completely sure it's relevant. Any advice? Might be able to return it. Was only $15 used so it's not too bad

Jigsaw:
2017 was the first year of the current study design, so considering that the A+ Busman Exam book you have is from 2016, I presume it is out of date. Whilst some elements of the previous study design (pre 2017) have been carried forward into the current study design, new dot-points exclusively on the 2017 syllabus will not be included.
