COMPULSORY holiday homework (ew)

Hi fellow Year 12s (and anyone else who can be bothered reading),

I think this question is too specific to be in my VCE Journey Journal: click click ----> https://atarnotes.com/forum/index.php?topic=183143.0

I also think it's too specific a question for the communal question thread, so I thought I'd make it into its own thread, for the benefit and information of others who may be in the same boat.

I know a lot of you 2019ers are probably scrambling to complete all your holiday homework on time, but I am quite frankly going nowhere with English holiday homework. You see, at the end of last year, we were set COMPULSORY holiday homework for English (i.e. you'll get a detention if you don't do it). It is made up of 3 tasks: Frankenstein (reading the book and writing and essay), Watching the film Rear Window and completing character profiles (easily did that before Christmas), and the absolute scourge that is the Analysing Argument Essay (analysing the Jonty Jenkins fiasco from last year). (I have however, completed the introduction of the Analysis, just can't be stuffed going into the body paragraphs)

What triggers me is that it is the only subject in which I am absolutely obligated to complete the set work. I used to quite enjoy English, but I am on the verge of loathing it. And yes, I am putting off doing the Analysing Argument to get this off my chest. I mean, we are already obligated to do an English subject by VCAA and VTAC, why on earth does the bloody HOLIDAY HOMEWORK suddenly have to be compulsory?!?!? Well, I'm going to find a way to do it sometime before Feb kicks off, but English is not looking all that awesome right now.  :-\

EDIT: I just realised this post has no real question. My question is how can I pull through and get the argument analysis done to a quality standard?

Listens to K-Pop (Twice, Red Velvet, MAMAMOO) and Christmas music all year round.

Hey,
I feel your pain of doing holiday homework. The best thing I can say is just do it.. Perhaps, print out a weekly planner and write down specifically how you're going to accomplish all your English work in time. Make sure they are specific and time bound. For example, read 2 chapters of Frankenstein at 1:30pm. Something that really helped me with reading my books was listening to the audiobook simultaneously.
For the argument analysis,
Sit down, time yourself for an hour (what you're going to be doing in the real exam anyways) and just write. Don't worry if its horrendous because you at least have something to work with. You can go back and edit it. Have a read of the countless AA articles for advice on how to improve. Post it on the essay feedback if you wish!
Every time I forced myself to write an essay, I would remind myself that every piece of practice is one step to being better.
Graduated in 2018. Top 5%.
