I'M LOST FOR FURTHER MATHS

Hey y'all, I'm currently in year 11 doing further maths 3/4. I skipped 1/2 and I'm very clueless on how to start the subject and what to do. I'm not too sure on how the VCE system works and all that, so I just need some help getting started and preparing myself for the year

Welcome to AN and Further, Sherlock.Holmes!

I'm not too sure on how the VCE system works and all that, so I just need some help getting started and preparing myself for the year
Here's a thread on how VCE works and here's an article that talks about what Further Maths is all about.

I'm very clueless on how to start the subject and what to do.
Usually you have been assigned holiday homework through Headstart or Orientation Week (the few days/ week in the final few school weeks in 2018 where people start VCE 2019 work/ introduce them to their new classes for 2019). Have you done this? If not, ask your teacher about this and see if there was anything to do and/or complete it.

The rest is simply to get informed and follow with the class content, maybe even think of how you'll prepare your bound reference.
1. To get informed, I'd check out the VCAA Further Maths Study Design (see pages 54 to 70, inclusive), which is the curriculum you'll be following.
2. Start learning how to use your graphic calculator efficiently as well, since this usually helps during exams.
3. You'll get to take a bound reference for your two exams at the end of the year. This is a good time to plan how you'll approach making your bound reference and if you'll start it immediately, build it up over the year or only make it closer to exams. There are guidelines for the bound reference, which can be found here.
4. Decide if you'll do exam prep weekly, closer to exam time or not at all.
5. Check out our resources, articles and question threads. If you ever have any specific Further questions, feel free to check out the VCE Further Maths Question Thread to get help on a maths question or something.

Side note: Further exams are usually the Friday and Monday after the VCAA exam period begins (last week of October).

Let us know if you have any questions or if you need any help. :)
