Involving the book Behind The beautiful Forever for VCE Unit 3&4 year 12 does anyone know any good tips or strategies or maybe points of interest and topics for writing essays about the text. I'm making this post so people (including me :p) can get a better idea from others who are maybe better at English or have a good idea what would be good to write about and to share ideas.
Hi gdog123 and David. O
While I don't have much to contribute in terms of what themes you'll need to explore beyond what you should be able to find in study guides (none of our students are studying this text, unfortunately), below are some strategies I'd recommend for studying any text for English:
1. Make a quote bank organised by theme and character. You want to have a handy document (like a word doc, or an excel doc) where you have lists or tables of quotes that are separated by themes, and is searchable by key words like characters, place, etc. This will make writing practice essays much easier when you don't have to go on a quote hunt every time you need one.
2. Practice planning extensively. Once you've had a few classes on the text, you want to write many plans for many different kinds of prompts so that you're prepared for whatever they might throw at you come SAC and exam time.
3. In terms of the creative response: plan before you write! And then edit, edit, edit. I have a playlist of videos here that you might find helpful:

Hope that helps!
