Is it called Language Analysis or Argument Analysis?

My school calls it argument analysis and the teacher said language analysis was what VCAA used to call it. Bit confused and don't want to be looking at any outdated resources or anything - would appreciate if someone could clear it up!

Essentially, language analysis and analysing argument are the same thing. My year 11 teacher told us that VCAA changed the name of the AOS to Argument analysis is because people used to focus too much on the persuasive devices used and not enough on the argument presented. I think you can still use the same resources, since the only difference willl be the articles presented and the prompt will always be the same.

Hope this helps

Hi turtlebanana

Macrophagee is spot on :) You can still use resources for 'language analysis', but I would advise you only use it when you need help with analysing the techniques/devices (which is part of analysing the arguments). If you need help analysing the arguments, I would suggest you look specifically for 'argument analysis' materials.

I've got a playlist of videos here that you might find helpful: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKOm-s25Y8DaRNJtWYkXzxuDAiLoE5vzJ
