What is 9.0 for a year 9?

Hello,

I'm quite curious as to what '9.0' means. When my English teacher grades me, I get a 9.0 in the 'VCEW' part of the grader. What does this mean? And if this is a score, what would the percentage be?

9.0 is a representation of where you're at on the Curriculum continuum for English. I don't exactly know the later part of what 'VCEW' means but the first part is 'Victorian Curriculum English xxxx' (Going to assume here it's writing?)... Somebody who teaches English would have a better idea.

Basically 9.0 is where you should be at, at the end of Year 9. It means that your achievement is that of a typical Year 9 student according to the curriculum. 8.5 for example would be where you should be in the middle of Year 9 and so forth.

It goes up in 6 month increments (the following can be replicated for any year level up until year 10):
- A Year 9 student at the beginning of the year typically should be at 8.0
- A Year 9 student mid-way through the year typically should be at 8.5
- A Year 9 student at the end of the year typically should be at 9.0

This is how the 'At standard', 'Above standard' and 'Below standard' judgements are made.
