move vertically until you reach the point in the middle, or the middle between the middle 2.

 IT must ask the median value for y (eg.height of dogs) or it must ask the median value for x (eg.number of dogs).
If so, what you do is for the median value for x, you count the number of values in the scatterplot then add one and divide 2. (n+1)/2). The you move from the from right to left from the x axis and see the number. Hope it helps, Its had explaining it
