CONFUSED ABOUT GENERAL MATHEMATICS

Hey everyone, i am very confused about this. I saw that there was only further mathematics, methods and specialist maths, but now i discovered about general mathematics. Is general maths easier than the other 3 and would i be able to get into medicine by choosing this one. Im only in year 8 so i'm sorry if i sound a bit stupid for not understanding it clearly.

Thanks in advance!

Hey!
From my understanding, general mathematics is the units 1/2 precursor to further mathematics. Further mathematics, from my understanding, is only units 3/4.

Hope this helps! :)

I understand that this must seem confusing!

There are only three core maths available in year 12 (units 3/4) - further maths (seen as the easiest out of the three), methods, and specialist. General math is the 1/2 (year 11) version of further maths, i.e. if you're intending to complete further maths in year 12, you would select general math as a subject in year 11.

It's a good idea to start looking at the prerequisites for medicine now to prepare for what subjects you'd need to choose moving forward. I'd definitely recommend doing methods in year 12 as it's a prerequisite for most science-based subjects at university and will keep your options open if you know medicine is the path you want to go down.

I just finished year 12 last year.
Good luck!
