i found this exam hard......and i made alot of stupid mistakes

but with Question 3 c)..i dont get it..why does the assessors report say use only the y =...equation and find that period

i added the periods of both equations...

help??

I think it means consider the period of both.

In this case by memory it was something like 3pi and 6pi. So that meant the period of the whole motion was 6pi. The period will be the lowest common multiple of the two.

yeh it was 3pi and 6pi...but i added them...why do you take the lowest common multiple??

Because the period is the time it takes for the object to complete one complete motion.

In 3pi seconds, the x-coordinate will be back to where it started but the y-coordinate would not have completed its one completely path

In 6pi, the x-coordinate would be back to where it started again (remembering its period was 3pi so 6pi's just two periods), and this time the y-coordinate would have completed its path and would be back to where it has started again.

Hence the period is 6pi

(sorry if I've got the x-coordinate and y-coordinate the wrong way around, but you get what I mean hopefully)
