Using Rounded Numbers

Just wondering if in a question we were asked to round our answer to two decimal question, and in the next question we were required to use this answer, would we use the rounded figure to two decimal places or the whole answer we got in the previous question?

If it specifically asks you to use your answer from the previous question then you can't go wrong using it. So I would use the rounded number. Shouldn't matter too much anyway.

if i was asked to calculate the residue value using my regression line, do i use the rounded answer of my regression line calculated in a previous question (i.e. rounded to 2 decimal places) or do i use the regression line stored in my calculator which has decimal places of 10 or more?

If you are required to answer the question using a previously worked out value (which is unlikely) then both should be applicable

Just to add to this thread, in exam 2 geometry n trig do we use our rounded answer from the previous question in the next, or use exact answer?
Teacher says use exact answer, but in practice exams i have been getting my answers wrong by 0.1
Any help would be appreciated

If you have been getting them wrong by 0.1 then it suggests use the rounded answer from the previous question.

just found this on vcaa examiners report: In cases where the answer to a previous question must be used, the rounded version of the previous answer can be used without penalty. (Despite this, students who use the unrounded version of the previous answer are not penalised as long as their mathematics is correct.)

Yes.
There are two cases:
1. Question asks you to use previous answer - this is where you would use the rounded answered (however, as stated in that VCAA report, you can also use unrounded.)
2. In cases where the question does not ask you to use the previous question and you voluntarily use the answer to that question, the general concensus is to use the full decimal places, afterall, its the more accurate. :P
