Does anyone else feel like that VCAA does not always put the highest scoring responses in their answers to exam questions?

I’ve always been a bit critical about the examiners report, as some of their answers seem a bit too dumbed down or simplistic at times. What got me thinking is that VCAA doesn’t put the highest scoring responses is because the IB does a similar thing, where they don’t release the essays and reports which get perfect scores, only the decent ones. Apparently the IB’s rationale is that they don’t want students to “game” the system and just immediately find out how to score highly.

VCAA May have the same logic regarding their examiners reports, so I would be a bit cautious when using answers from the examiners report, especially if they seem a bit too off.

VCAA doesn't give complete answers to questions for bio.

For subjects like English, they'll give you quotes from texts, but the answers on bio reports aren't student answers at all. They just include all of the points that you need to put into your answer (although they don't always succeed at this). Unless it's a one mark question, writing just what it says on the report isn't likely to be a good answer because you need to connect the points better/write in full sentences.

Interestingly, it varies a lot between subjects - eg enviro science gives examiners reports with entire paragraphs as answers as opposed to the line or two you get for bio.
