Yeah, I might be a little harsh. A lot of them freely admit that they hate the subject though - the only reason why they're continuing is so that they meet the prerequisites for future courses. I just meant that it's hard to get a completely objective impression of difficulty when a lot of people taking the course would drop it (because it doesn't 'click') if they had the chance.

Btw, of the three sciences in VCE, biology is by far the hardest. There is so much to learn in every unit in biology. You have to put in tons and tons of time to do well.

I was under the impression that it was one of the easier sciences. Omg, I'm gonna die next year.

On of my mates showed me her summary book and just for 4 chapters it was 60 pages. Given though she has large handwriting. But still, just from talking Bio people I thank myself for not choosing it haha.

Wow I thought a lot of people preferred chemistry to physics o.O maybe it's just VN lol.

I'm not a sciences person at all, yet I loved 3/4 chemistry and found it really easy. I did unit 1 physics just to try it, hated it, could not bring myself to study for it, got a B on the midyear exam and dropped it for biology.

And I second whoever said biology is hard - just because there's soooooo much stuff to remember, whereas for chem I did barely any rote-memorising. Chemistry concepts just clicked whereas biology took a bit longer (and that's reflected in my study scores).

I agree with NE2000 and ninwa, I did all three sciences in VCE, bio was definitely hardest for me and physics was by far the easiest. I think this is because there are just so many varied application questions you could be asked in bio which require an indepth understanding to even partially answer. At my very, very average government school (read: mean 30, 8% scores > 40), physics is almost unanimously seen as being markedly easier to both grasp and do well in than the others. And of those few who do both chem and physics, they general consensus is that they prefer physics, although a couple of people have said this is solely due to the relative difficulty of the midyear exams. Personally, I don't really have a clear favourite, I enjoyed aspects of both this year, but if I had to choose, I'd say physics, it comes easier to me and I would like to continue (or properly start, depending on your opinion of VCE physics) to study it.

i love physics :smitten:!!! one of my favs subjects  ;D

the fact that i have such a mad teacher probably helps, but i just find everything we learn to be so interesting and as a result, can't wait to do physics in uni... although i did read a comment that the gap between vce physics and uni physics is pretty big... but still, should be coooooooool azzzz

So its harder to get like 40 in bio than in chem? Some people say like chem is more thinking but bio is studying, true?

An admirable observation. Just choose the subject you love more, choosing a subject purely based on its relative easiness is not a good choice. If you love chem, then I suppose you should consider continuing, if you love physics then go with physics. Its probably the only way you wont regret your choice in the long run.

Different for every person. Definitely harder for me to get 40+ in bio than in chem.

I did bio in year 11 so I know how it feels. I was glad I did it in year 11 so I got plenty of time to study. I was in fact worried if ever 3/4 was this hard and how I was going to manage 5x this load of work. But luckily Shiney told me that its not in fact 5x the work load.

Shiney charizard? Wow ur luky, I lost mine :(
Biggest workload goes to commerce I think, there is a lot of stuff to memorise and also some questions can be ambiguous as to what the answer is.
