Further Maths in Year 10

Hey Guys,

I'm currently in year 9 and my school's subject selection is right around the corner. We are allowed to try out for an accelerated subject next year and I believe further Maths is the right choice for me. I've been achieving very good results in school for math.

As I was filling the application one of the questions was "Please explain why you would like to study the subject" Im not sure what to write for this question, does any of you guys have any suggestions on what to write.

Thanks,
Louis :)

Not entirely sure what they are asking for. l don't actually think the school takes much account into these things since you are already doing relatively well in the subject - although this could be completely different to your particular school if they are strict with allowing the student to do an "accelerated" subject.

Maybe talk about how you have been going in maths in the past and that you enjoy it (assuming you do??) and what you enjoy about. You can also outline why you believe this choice will allow you to perform your best in your accelerated subject.

As long as your response is somewhat reasonable I don't think it matters. You could potentially say that further is a prereq for a course you want to do and you believe you're a strong enough student to accelerate in it, or you believe accelerating would give you a better score.

I changed subjects quite a lot in VCE and I always used university prereqs as my reason.

VCE: Literature [50] Methods [50] Further [48] Chemistry [40] Biology [33]
2022: Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Economics) @ ANU
