Brainstorm: Ransom and The queen
(1/1)
sophwinterton:
Hi Guys!
Each week until exams I'm (or anyone is welcome to post a topic to work on) going to post an essay topic that we can discuss and share ideas on so we can collectively prepare essay plans and ideas that we might not have though of on our own!
‘Power can be exercised in many different ways.’ Compare how this idea is explored in Ransom and The Queen
Off the top of my head I am thinking along the lines of how The Queen holds monarchal power over her country and people, but her people and Blair have power over her in light of Diana's death.
What are your thoughts on this topic?
The Cat In The Hat:
The Queen -Queen's power vs Blair's power vs Diana's power
Ransom -Priam's power vs Achilles' power vs Somax's power [last one could be interesting]
Remember it needs to be conceptual, I know mine isn't, but it's literally off the top of my head.
S_L1003:
Maybe also like the gods' power over stories and the press' power over stories, like who holds the power to create stories? Also maybe the power in humility, like the Queen and Priam hold 'power' in their monarchical positions, but Frears and Malouf also show the weakness inherent in being bound to a position, and how power grows when one steps down from their pedestal?
