CHINESE SL/SLA Mock Oral Examinations (with raw 50)

On October 2, 3 and 4, Daniel Pan (SLA 2019) and Ryan Chan (raw 50 SL + Premier’s Award, 2019) will be holding CHINESE MOCK ORAL examinations over Zoom. These will be 1hr to 1hr 15 min sessions, $85/session, during which there will be three 15-minute rounds, with immediate, specific, detailed feedback after each round. Mock orals will replicate the exact experience and procedure of our own oral examinations last year, and we will be following the new study design and scoring criteria. Payments need to be made first to secure your timeslot – payment details are included in the form below.

WOW! Seeing that this is run by two former students with no education experience, $85 is an absurdly expensive price IMO, especially in these times.

What did Daniel receive for SLA? I see you have conveniently left his scores out  ::)

Hi James,

Thanks for the reply. First, I have been tutoring students for the subject this whole year, and have been tutored by teachers who do charge much higher rates. Our aim is to help students from a past student's perspective, who has also learned from teachers. That is the value.

We believe $85 is a fair price, and it is what we are charging for supplying our services for the time of two people. The demand depends on the value students see in attending these sessions.

As for Daniel, he got raw 38 for SLA. Not sure if you understand, but SLA are native speakers, let alone being in top ~10%. That is 绰绰有余 for SL.

My initial reply may have sounded a bit critical (I'm a big believer in affordable education :'(), but I can see why you're charging the way you are.
