I got an A+, so I don't know how accurate this might be...

But to get an A+ I put in lots of dates and tried to mention a historian in each section response.  I also wrote a fair bit, way past the provided lines.

ive been to lectures where the guy said putting in the historians school of thought, or trying to label them is not important...

So say you have an obviously soviet document about war communism you could say

' In contrast to this soviet biased account, historian pipes argues that war communism was an "ambitious attempt to introduce full blown communism" '.

and sometimes you might have a second quote and say, 'historian figes supports this as he states....'

is it ok to write substantially more than the space often? or should I only do that a couple of times?

when I went to a revision lecture, the presenters said that the space provided should be an indication of how much we should write... but I have a tendency to go over the limit =S

lol im  deffs not a fan of pipes, but hes good to throw in because he's completely opposed to anything soviet...

I've pretty much just memerised a pipes or figes quote and a lenin/cpsu quote for each key event in aos2, pretty much deals with everything ive been faced with lol

I was sitting behind someone in the History exam last year and I saw that she had filled up almost the whole page (about two times the amount of lines that they give you) for her responses (Excluding the extended response, of course).  In quite tiny writing too!  She ended up getting 49 raw.

I guess it depends who you get as a marker.  And whether what you are saying is of any substance, or just fluff.
