I know year 11 isn't really too important and grades are effectively irrelevant. But what scores in tests should i be looking around in order to be getting a high 40s study score next year.

It would really depend on how difficult your tests are. Some schools make relatively easy tests so getting a 100% or close to it is quite reasonable (if you are looking for high 40's) whilst other schools have harder tests where something like mid to high 80s would correspond to a high 40 study score.
