question about simplifying

how harsh is vcaa when it comes to simplifying fractions in exam 1?
i just did a practice exam 1 and got all questions right, except i forgot to simplify 2/4 to 1/2 for one question, and forgot to simplify 45/100000 for another. would they take 2 whole marks off just for that?

Two whole marks? No way. 1 mark for the working 100%, then you did technically get the right answer, I know for chem when you give a balenced equation, even if the coefficents could be simplified, as long as the ratio is correct they have to mark it as correct. But for methods, idk maybe you would loose half a mark? Just try to remember to simplfy no matter what okay?

Anyway vcaa examinors ain't out to get you, so it isn't the end of the world if you don't simplfy a fraction, I can imagine some will penalize you, and due to the cross marking scheme requirng exams to be within like 1 mark of eachother, you may loose like half a mark depending on how strict they are, but based on my experience you will prob get away for a mistake like that.

mmm idk about that, my teacher said vcaa examiners are dicks and are willing to take marks away wherever possible lol... like in physics u would only get 1/2 marks for answer to a worded question if your answer doesnt include a single piece of specific information, that sometimes it isnt even clear you need to include it, and for methods exam 2 they always take 1 mark away if you make the slightest rounding error, and for economics i know they arbitrarily take marks away sometimes if they dont think your response is high quality enough. so its not unreasonable to think methods examiners might be douchebags when marking exam 1 :/

also, whyd u dislike my post man, not cool. my -3 net score is already making me sad  :( and, ur literally da same guy i argued with, why lie? smh

and one more thing, why is ur spelling so bad (no offence). like how do u misspell "examiner" as "examinor", "penalize" as "penalise", "lose" as "loose", "balanced" as "balenced", etc. ? at yr 12 i wouldnt think youd, a clear native english speaker, make those mistakes... bit odd (no disrespect intended btw)

Absolutely there are dicks and out there to get you but you shouldn't generalise the whole population like that - there are 100s of VCAA examiners and especially for Maths there's a rigorous marking scheme that they have to adhere to. If your scores differ by 2 or more it will get remarked by a 3rd examiner.

Mabajas is trying to help you and give you (solid) advice and instead of demonstrating appreciation you're criticising him for his spelling...

This is a casual educational forum and not the English exam

Usually if you find you need to protect your statement by writing "(no offence)", it usually is quite offensive :) there was a time when I was also abrasive on social media, but take it from someone who's been around these forums for a very long time, there's nothing to lose from being a kinder person :)
