changing a few grades in school report for B+ average?

i'm interested in doing umep psychology next year, however, i'm not sure if i'll be able to get the B+ average in my school report. is it a good idea to change the grades using a computer? how often do they check the legitimacy of these? I don't think the university even contacts schools except the VCE coordinator but it says they only do that as a last resort of something like that. is it worth the risk?

There's no point changing them.

1= It's wrong
2= They check with VTAC (who you give permission to give data to the Uni), as if they really just look at a report produced by ones school'

For UMEP, the school sends a copy of your report (and a letter stating all the subjects you are doing/will be doing next year) to them so there's no point.

Well, that's what my year 12 coordinator did, anyway.

No, you shouldn't cheat the system.

Oh hey, I'm applying to do UMEP psychology as well :)

It actually says you need an A average for your subjects to psychology. (No idea why it's different for psych) D: Anyway, I would advice against changing them because as Nova said, it's wrong. What do you think you're going to average (remembering that it's across your entire report so even if you screw up a subject it might not matter as much)?

Instead, why don't you just mention how passionate you are about the subject and how you really want to do it etc. etc. Just emphasise on reasons why you want to do it, how it'll benefit your studies and write a kickass statement.

They can't really check with VTAC because you don't get graded for Unit 1/2 subjects. VTAC would only have whether you got a S or N and not letter grades and you're supposed to hand in your VASS report anyway.

well, my school doesn't seem to know all that much about extension studies (only 2 people are doing it this year), i may be able to get away with them giving my semester 2 reports to me. I could probably change some of the comments while i'm at it lol. umm...i hope i don't get in trouble...

I wouldn't change the grades. Although I think some of the prerequisites are ridiculous, they're there for a reason - if you're not meeting them, you might struggle with the course. As mentioned by the others, it's also wrong - it wouldn't be fair if other people missed out if they had the same grades.

i don't think there's a limit to the number of people who can do it. So I won't be making someone else miss out on the opportunity to do it.

Oh, I'm not saying you'll make someone else miss the opportunity. I was just saying that if another student was rejected on the basis of their grades, it'd be unfair if you gained a place if you didn't meet the criteria.

As other people have said, submit your report, but maybe add in reasons why you haven't achieved your full potential, competition results and your involvement in psychology.

Ok, I'll send a very persuasive letter outlining the major reasons why I am interested in doing the UMEP subject. But do you really think this is going to compensate for not meeting the requirements?

What do you think you're going to average (remembering that it's across your entire report so even if you screw up a subject it might not matter as much)?

I missed out on the handing in of a physics SAC on the due time (handed it in an hour late). I have done the work but my teacher says that she won't mark. Despite this, I still managed to give them a doctor's certificate so they are in the process of granting me an extension but there's a possiblity I might not get one. So I may get at least one ungraded mark on my report.

Don't worry about it. Even if you don't meet the prerequisites, they will probably let you in.

I remember i applied for UMEP maths and i did really really bad in advanced general maths ie E,D marks on the report. They called me and asked why I did so bad and I gave them a reason and they seemed to have accepted it.

Well A is 80% and if you can't get that, then you might want to reconsider doing UMEP. But hopefully you can get that A/A+.
