Am I the only one finding the Jacaranda Physics book unhelpful?

The book is absolutely hopeless for Units 1 and 2.

No explanations (question-wise) and it has more theory in it than actually helping with the practicality of physics...

Checkpoints, you say?

Yeah really hopeless, I didn't even read this book, glanced through it and used my school notes.

Do checkpoints, they're insanely helpful for physics.

The 3/4 book just confuses me more. I just use my class notes and Checkpoints, then ask question where needed.

Yep, it was on our booklist, but teacher makes his own questions up, coz those are hopeless..
Are there other companies around?

Nelson's physics 3/4 text is quite good actually... my gf uses it and I've read through it, quite concise explanations and very systematic, the only thing is that some of the stuff IS outside the 3/4 course but not much really, if you really wanna text a textbook, read Nelsons.

I reckon those A+ guidebooks on Physics are also worth a look
The Psych A+ one was pretty helpful (they provide summaries on top of questions)

Nelson's is a great textbook, however it is considered the most advanced/hardest questions, which is a good thing :).
if you can do nelson's q's, checkpoints will be a breeze.

I gave up year 11 physics because of that textbook. Wonder how good this Nelson one is...

I use a Nelson psychology book.. They're really great. I'd assume that other topics made by Nelson would be superb too.

omg i know the jacaranda 1/2 book is so bad.
sighhh so many of the answers in the book are wrong, and there were a few questions(motion) even our entire physics faculty could not complete ==
i got the answer though; but only after theoretically assuming something was halved LOL >_>

Heffernan is poorly written and difficult to understand as well in the chapters covering Electricity (unit 3) and Magnetism (unit 4)

i used jacaranda for 1/2 and it served a good book rest on my shelf.
the Nelson's book is great, although it is advanced, hard to understand (some may find) and usually goes further than what the course is expected. saying that, there's times i don't even know what the textbook is saying and i result to my handy A+ notes.

I use a Nelson Biology book. It's got a lot of colourful pictures and diagrams :D
