Electioneering:
i have not had a folio review yet... i didnt know such a thing existed! lol.

wow my teacher told us the exact opposite. she said that 1 final is not enough. she said we should aim to produce ~3 pieces, especially if the size of our pieces is smaller like a3 or a2.

i'm doing painting on canvas. what are you doing?

cathtacular:
im not sure what im doing, our teacher told us we should have no idea about what our final piece will be like and we dont start testing materials and techniques until term 3... but our art teacher is mad because everyone else ive spoken to has done around 3 final pieces... although im hoping to do photography but probably large scale but i just didnt tell my teacher that yet! we are probably the only school doing one final piece..

Electioneering:
but.. you're supposed to have a theme and continually work around that theme by producing numerous possible solutions illustrating your ideas and stuff, right? at the very start my teacher made us tell her what we plan to do for our finals, like painting, photography, sculture, mixed media, drawing etc. as well as our theme.

also our teacher says we can start researching and testing materials and techniques now..

if your teacher is telling you not to do all this stuff, then what are you guys doing now?!?! it seems like you can't do much..

are studio arts and art the same thing? because i am doing studio arts... not art.

Eriny:
Art is a bit different to studio art. I think art is more theoretical.

bec:
art has more of an emphasis on theory (at least in the mark allocations) whereas studio art is more practical. in studio art, it's basically the same as photography where you have a statement of intention and a potential resolution in mind throughout most of your experimenting - your work is very directed.

in art though, you can start with whatever you want and you don't necessarily have to have a theme.

i do art and no one in my class (including me) has done any final pieces. don't stress about how many finals you end up with - as long as your ideas are "resolved" in some way, you can have as few or as many as you want...
