Bound reference

I want to start preparing my bound reference as a go along and complete the further maths course. The problem is our teacher told us to just use the text book, apparently no one in our school makes their own bound reference. Likewise with methods. What should I do, should i go against my teachers advice.

I'd recommend going against their advice
1 - when you write stuff out again you remember some of it
2 - if you make notes you can actually understand them
3 - by the end of the year you don't want to be dependent on them anyway and quality >>> quantity
4 - if you write them you'll have a rough idea of where stuff is when you go to look it up

Also, textbook isn't relevant to the exam. If you were going to go that way, you'd print off and bind together every past vcaa exam and assessment report instead

Yeah I'd have to agree with Mel on this one ^_^
It is so much better to write your own notes, because at the end of the year you will have notes for areas that aren't your strengths, rather than areas you already are proficient in...

Thanks for you help guys. I'll most definately go with ur advice on this one. let's just say my school is 'unique' on the way it teaches but oh well.

i'm different... i like just using the textbook
saves time to study for other subjects. I didn't even own a further book.. had to borrow one for the exam.
But all i can say is don't put too much effort into your bound reference.. because you won;t even use it in the exam and if you do it would probably be 30secs max.
