Pre-requisite uni subjects

For example, MTH2010 needs a prerequisite of MTH1030. Does this mean MTH1030 has to be done beforehand (as in the previous year), or can it be taken alongside MTH2010 (so taken in the same year)?

From my understanding of the numbers, MTH2010 is a second year subject but for some reason, it is listed in the "recommended program of study" for first year by the uni.

Thanks. :)

You've done UMEP Maths, you'll be fine. You usually have to get special permission to do 2nd year subjects in 1st year because of prerequisites etc, but as you've already done the prereq (in admittedly a different form) you should be fine.
If you're really smart then you can do pretty much all 2nd year subjects in 1st year, but I wouldn't recommend it. I had a friend do MTH2140 in first semester 1st year and find it really difficult. Then again, he still got 94 or something for it...

Thanks humph.
I was just using that as an example :P My question was more "what counts as prerequisites". So, say subject B needs subject A - If I'm doing the prerequisite subject A concurrently with subject B, does this satisfy their pre-req part?

no, prerequisite means before. The web enrolment system automatically bars you from enrolling if you don't have the prereqs or permission =(
corequisite means at the same time.
