Good luck with results, VCE students of 2010!

Edit: Updated to address 2010 grad class
GOOD LUCK! TO ALL OF YOU!
I really hope you all get the scores of your dreams and your wildest fantasies are fulfilled.
Unfortunately, there are only a fixed amount of people who can get a fixed amount of high ATAR scores. Inevitably, a significant number of you will be disappointed and feel upset/distressed. I want all of you to know and understand that you are not your ATAR. If you have worked hard to get to the end of VCE and given it your all. Be proud. If your score doesn't get you where you want to go, there are other pathways to get you there. Longer, yes, but they will get you there. Did you miss out on medicine? Biomedicine will get you there. You also might find in biomedicine a career that interests you more than you previously thought medicine would!
If Law at Monash was your goal, then perhaps try going to Deakin and then transferring. Alternatively you might enrol in Arts or Science or Commerce and over you go after 1 year of hard work! It requres a ~75% average at Monash to transfer from arts/commerce/science. IT CAN BE DONE!
Hope is not lost. You are not your ATAR. The ATAR is a means to an end. It is not the end. Be proud of whatever number you achieved (remember that, it's still an achievement) and use it however you wish to get to where you want to be, and that is the career that interests you. Don't pay any attention to braggarts and dickhead family members who might tell you otherwise.
If nothing else, I'm proud of all of you. Good luck! :)

Science if you miss out on Biomedicine. They're basically the same in first year, I think.
