Doing well in competitive math does not correspond to getting a high score in methods, my tutor always talks about how his student who was a bronze medalist in the international maths olympiad and how he only got 43 for methods.

Nevertheless, this guy sounds like a genius.

lol, Dr He loves his examples of past students......  i remember that example and how he said thet guy re did methods in eyar 12 and stil lonly got like.... 46 or soemthing. The Dr would say how his own daughter who is "not gifted in math" *cough* got a 47 ro seomthing

i'm gonna be honest and say i pretty much understood close to zero abotu what he was saying when he was talking abotu his phd. As far as i could tell it was soemthing to do with waves and differential equations.... not sure if that mean more to you than:

I lost 2 on exam 2...On the most retarded things, oh well, I'm gonna do 2009 later today and I better get full marks lol.

I lost marks on even more retarded things.  I'm just finishing the marking now.  If the question asked for intercepts, does that mean the answers need to be given as coordinates.  I always thought for intercepts, you just give the relevant x or y value... ?

Anyway, my dumb mistakes.  Q4.  Choosing the matrix in the wrong order.  That is a bloody further question and I still stuffed it.  

Q11, didn't even think to solve it in the CAS.  Dumb 10 second question took me like 3 mins and I still stuffed it.

And in Extended response, Q1 part b.i., stupidly made the mistake mentioned in the examiners report of solving cos(x)=1/2 and forgetting the domain was [0.2pi], so gave positive and negative pi/3.  If we're not doing consequentials, then that cost me 3 marks in total.

These mistakes are really pissing me off.  Knew how to do the whole paper, yet still lost 5 marks.  How do you improve damn it....!

Well, I guess noting down your mistakes in the magical error book will help improve them.

About the intercepts, I always thought you needed to put coordinates, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, definitely put them in .  I am more annoyed about the Q4 mistake tbh.  I was doing those sorts of questions last year all the time.  How could I forget to check that the [x,y,z] column matrix was on the wrong side.  Damn frustrating!
