What to do if Offers don't go your way.

1) Calm down. In every way, panicking will not help. Take some deep breaths, and maybe go somewhere quiet to deal with/process the news. Remember that you've still achieved the great milestone of finishing year 12 and placing in the top x% of the state. Once you're calm, consider the following steps.
2) You still have 2 more rounds of offers! Many students turn down their offers for various reasons, you could get lucky in the next couple of weeks.
3) If that fails, it's time for what I call "the backdoor plans". You can, almost without fail, make it into your course through alternate means,
4) You can take a gap year and enrol through VTAC again with the same ENTER and hope the clearly-in for your required course goes down.
5) You can take a 'gap' year and do another 1 or 2 VCE subjects or the UMAT for med etc. to bolster your ENTER. You can work part time while you do this, and earn some cash whilst boosting your ENTER into the course you want.
6) You can enrol in the same course at a university with a lower ENTER requirement, work hard, and transfer into 2nd year of the same course at your university of choice (you may have to repeat some subjects, however depending on the university)
7) You can enrol in a similar course at the same university, work hard, get a good average and transfer across to that course. E.g. for Law at Monash, you can go into a bachelor of Arts which requires ~80ish ENTER, and then if you get a 78+ average you're almost guaranteed of a transfer to Law/Arts.
8) DO. NOT. DESPAIR. Post on VN and ask advice, so many people have been in your position and can advise you! Keep your chin up, and you'll get where you want to go  :)

Finally, MAKE SURE TO ACCEPT YOUR OFFER, NO MATTER WHAT. For all of those steps, you can do it while accepting your offer. If you want to take a GAP year, you can defer the place and work on your VCE/apply through VTAC again. If you're waiting for your next round offer, accepting DOES NOT PREVENT YOU FROM GAINING HIGHER PREFERENCE OFFERS. Just accept and then wait and see what to do. You can ALWAYS reject your offer without penalty until 31st March, but after about a week (somebody correct me if this is wrong), you are no longer able to accept your first round over. You have nothing to lose by accepting.

Good luck to all, and I hope you get all the offers of your wildest dreams. For those who don't, however, I hope this post helps you, and don't lose hope!

Some great advice there.  But there's only two official rounds now.  The "third round" (so to speak) is called "Supplementary Round" and that works differently.  Basically, in that round VTAC will give your application to all the courses that still have placements left.  The selection officers will look at you and inform VTAC whether or not they want to make you an offer.

Also, to be eligible for the Supplementary Round, you must have given permission to VTAC.

Heh... I'm probably the resident expert on Language Diplomas, if anyone would like more information on that.

I'll also do my best to help answer any Monash or Commerce-related questions anyone has.

okay here comes all my questions, btw im doing yr 12 next this year :P
since biomed went up so high, im starting to get worried for next the end of this year.... (by the way i want to do med)

if i get into science at UoM or a sciency degree at monash can i transfer into biomed UoM for 2nd year?
is biomedical science at monash the same sort of thing as biomed at UoM and therefore could i try and get into MD with the monash one?

hope my questions are clear

Yes you can transfer to Biomed at UoM after a first year Science degree. You will need a GPA of 75% to be considered. However, you will need to know that you will be transferring into first year Biomed at UoM and this is done through VTAC. There is no direct transfer into 2nd year Biomed. The only way to do so is to get credit by doing the same subjects as first year Biomed (during your first year Science degree) to gain credit for first year, thereby allowing you to proceed straight to second year.

Don't let this scare you, you have all of this year to play out before you even get an ENTER.

I would also recommend doing a UMAT and aiming for the real deal at other uni's, that way you can practice after your bachelor degree.

^ definitely enrol ! this is what i was told:
if the second round offer your waiting for is one above the preference you got now
(ex. your first was law, and your second was commerce, and got commerce)
then if an offer comes available for your first (ex.law) then they will contact you in second round offers. EVEN IF you have already enrolled into your second preference (ex.commerce)

Yes, you will be able to enrol or disenrol your course without consequence until census date which is sometime in March.

Glocky... it's "unenrol".

For both Monash and UoM the census date is March 31st.

Sorry I'm a bit unclear.
Does that mean repeating year 12 ?

it's not exactly 'repeating' if you don't want it to be, it's simply extending year 12 to another year.
yes you can repeat subjects you want to repeat then, or do other subjects and work hard at them for a chance at higher study scores + ENTER.
you get no penalty for this, just gives you another opportunity to reach your goals :)
