Theory:

You reflect because the modulus x considers only positive x values. Therefore it doesn't matter if you put in a neg value, it'll only become positive. Thus if you put in neg 2, the y-value will be the same as for pos 2. Hence the graph will be the same for neg x.

You need to remember that for translations, like log|x - 3| it will be different, i.e. the line of reflection isn't x = 0 but rather it is x = 3 as it is a log function shifted 3 units to the right.

yeah, first time you see modulus graphs you are like wtf!
you get used to them after a while.  they are actually really simple.  :)
