Don't worry guys the host program is always fairly crap, it does get better toward the end.

It was quite the contrary for me.  My host group leader was absolutely AWESOME!  Had such a great time.  How was it "ordinary" for everyone?

Your one of the lucky ones, most host group things are pretty lame. Anyway the most fun from O-week is just walking around the campus, finding your feet in the uni (you will be fairly good at finding all your buildings by week 2), making friends, etc.

Also with these O-week lectures don't stress if you miss some as some are redundant. Anyway enjoy O-week and then you start the real deal next week.

Oh right.  I guess I was one of the 16 lucky ones in the draw.  It all comes down to the personality and enthusiasm of the leader.

Host thing was fun. Couldn't login to the host thing online so I found a random group and joined. Questions like "Where is the maths building?" and "How do I get to MUMS?" were brought up by me quite a few times. Hehe I was with Edmund when we did that metlink usb thing. I kept on going before him and getting the good stuff, then he would go next and get crap things. I'm actually looking forward to seeing my host group again.

Today... next to pointless info lectures were boring.I went to one session - the academic writing one (the supposed 'most popular' session). It was pretty informative I guess. Basically everything you write can be considered plagiarism if you're not careful haha. Free BBQ and Ice cream for commerce was good though. Signed up to the FMAA.
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.

Today was worse then yesterday for me! lol. Completely pointless Bachelor of Arts info thing, then had nothing to do so waited in that massive line at south lawn for a veggie burger. Should've gone to the Environments one and got a free beer instead...

Hope tomorrow is better!

Finally got free sausages today. One from Science and one from the ALP BBQ where I had to pretend I was remotely interested in politics. Failed yesterday at the M-ASS BBQ, too long a line. Is anyone else getting peeved off by the endless number of socialist alternative people giving out their flyers!?

Yeah, the socialists seem to be everywhere, especially outside Wilson Hall.

Also, have you or anyone else come across the Science Students' Society yet?  I've been looking for them but they seem to have...  disappeared.

They were at the Science Intro BBQ today and inside the building with the copland theatre in it on Tuesday. They don't even check if youre a union member when you sign up so you can just say you are and pay only 2 bucks

Damn.  I missed both occasions.  Does anyone know if I can join at one of their BBQ's later in the year or something?

So much for me going to O-week! I caught a cold and now have a bacterial infection in my throat. I'll try and go to UoM tomorrow.

Absolutely sick of the communists. Very tempted to lecture them on exactly why they are wrong, with facts and figures and credible historians opinons. Clearly though, that would be a waste of time. *frustrated*

Besides for that, the rest of O-week was pretty good =) Joined a few clubs, ate a lot of free junk food, got a lot of vouchers, enjoyed uni atmosphere, and best of all found an amazing little side street off Collins with reeeeaaaallly cheap, good food. Love it.

Really keen to know all the ins and outs of the city, and get on with being a uni student!
