What are the benefits of a student union membership?
Is it worth $99?

Thanks

as far as i know u just get discounts on various good/servises around campus (i dont know if it includes textbooks or not :P )
its worth it if u know ur going to spend a lot of time at uni ie joining clubs, having lunch often
assuming u get around 10% discount, u would have b confident ur going to spend $990+ (on the things that r actually going to be discounted) for it to be financially viable

Well in first year I didn't really have the time to use the special library. Basically I think that $100 would be better off spent on stationery or public transport fare.

The only plus is the members lounge. I'm probably going to consider going to Melbourne central for lunch, since the union house stores are pretty crap.

you do get a discount on textbooks, but you can always get a friend who has a union membership to purchase the textbooks for you  (without spending the $99 yourself) ;)

Yep that's the place. I got served a chicken sandwhich with raw chicken and a mate got food poisoning.

But yeah I'll try the cafe near the new science student centre.
