So... I'm screwed for Chemistry
Daniel15:
Hi everyone,
I'm kinda screwed for Chemistry :P.
Basically, I haven't been paying attention for a lot of Unit 4, often falling asleep in class (seriously), or doing other work (like Specialist or Physics). I was going to drop Chemistry mid-year, but I thought I should keep it (and meh, I was going alright in SACs, so I kept it as a "just in case" thing). I somehow managed to get a C on the mid-year exam without doing any study whatsoever
So, anyone have any clue what I should study as a last-minute thing? I don't want to completely fail the exam :P

Lol. Have you at least done some VCAA exams? If you do those you should be fine, because students generally do better with the Unit 4 Exam. These are the main things that I noticed they always have on exams, so it would be good to know them.
>Calculating energy, heat of combustion, final temperature, calibration factor
>Questions relating to either the: Down Cell, Hall-Heroult Cell, Diaphragm/Membrane Cell - more specifically the purpose of the electrolyte of each of these cells
>Identifying the anode and cathode
>Identifying the reactions in the anode/cathode
>Determining which reactions will occur at the anode and cathode, using the electrochemical series
>Formula of glycerol
>Monosaccharides, Disaccharides, Polysaccharides
>Formation of fatty acids from glycerol
>The three structures of protein
>The type of bonding present in the primary and tertiary structure of a protein
>The purpose/role of surfactants/emulsifiers
>The role of antioxidants
>Distinguishing between saturated and unsaturated fats
>The mass spectrometer
>Mendeleev's contribution to the periodic table
>Trends in the periodic table
>Properties of transition metals
>Coordination complex
>Definition and examples of fusion and fission reactions
This should be the basic things you should know. There's heaps more that I might have missed, but yeah you get the idea. There's still a week left it's not too late to study. Goodluck!
Daniel15:
Thanks :D

Nope :P
For the Unit 3 exam, I didn't do anything at all. How I got a C, I have no idea (some kids in my class were actually trying, studied, and got an E, whatever the heck an E even is :P).
I haven't done anything this unit either, instead focusing on my other subjects. Yeah, I'm stupid, but I think I've actually done too many subjects and some of them won't count towards my ENTER anyways (I did a VET subject [the Cisco CCNA] in 2005, one subject last year, and five this year). :P

Thanks... I can't remember much of that stuff at all
Time to revise (or, in my case, learn everything :P)

Ooh, ooh, the Diaphragm Cell contains asbestos. That's all I remember
>_<

One of the things I actually can do (probably due to doing fusion/fission in Physics :P)

I noticed you did Systems last year, do you mind me asking what marks you got? I'm doing it this year and want to get an idea of what I need for a 43+

I got an A on the exam, but can't remember my SAC marks. Sorry about that.
But note that I didn't really try that hard... My friends and I didn't take it seriously at all. If we did, we would have got higher scores :P
