i tried making my timetable but i cant, and it says 22 February you can 'view' your timetable, does that mean you cant pick what times you want?

On the 22nd of Feb we all get allocated a timetable for all our subjects, and then from the 23rd Feb until 12 March (or around then), we can swap times around if we want.

Additionally, if you want to know when all the classes for a subject will be offered so you have an idea of what your timetable could look like then you can use the Subject Timetable. This is available right now.

To do this, Login to the Portal > Admin Tab > Subject Timetable, and enter in the subject code(s).

What do you think is better: have your classes starting in the morning or in the afternoon? What about cramming all of your classes in to as little days as possible? Lol ok basically what I'm wondering is what's the best way to set up your timetable?

Well I guess it depends on the person. Do you work well in the mornings? Or do you like to sleep in? Would you prefer to get your classes done by lunch time or do you mind staying at uni till 6? Basically first semester I had mostly all morning classes, and second mostly afternoon classes (earliest start was 11am). And to be honest, I think I'll be aiming for a mix this time. I reccommend not having all morning or all afternoon for your first semester, just to see how it suits you if you're not sure.

Ok, thanks I'll try go for a mix and see how things turn out. What about the spread of classes throughout the week? I have 13 hours/week, so would it be best to spread classes over 2, 3, or 4 days? (sorry for the questions, and I know it's up to the person, but this uni thing is pretty intimidating!)

I prefer starting at 10am (because I then have to leave home at 8am at the latest), because I prefer morning starts and the days I started at like 2pm usually meant I would waste the morning on no study. As for finishing I usually finished uni at 6pm, it didn't bother me though because I would spend my free time on getting extra study done.

Yeah, unfortunately I will be aiming for a morning orientated timetable this semester, as my last timetable (2-6pm) saw me spending most mornings catching up with news from America and not doing study

You could upload your semester 2 subjects before right? However, yes, you only get your semester 2 timetable on the 22nd.

With 13 hours per week, I think 3 days at uni is ideal. Unfortunately, this may be impossible depending on when lectures are offered. Both semesters last year I had 12 contact hours, but could never fit my classes into 3 days (was 4 days both times).

I was under the impression that you had to have good reason (not including work) to manipulate the timetable that you are allocated.
If not, this is excellent news as it means I can manipulate tutes and practicals to have Fridays off...
