Multimeter & Sig Figs Question

are we supposed to write the multimeter error next to every reading we make in our practical work?
and
Do we need to consider significant figures in physics like we do in VCE chemistry. Or, will they specify a number of decimal places instead?

Mod Edit: Thread title changed.

It's not really needed for VCE Physics, BUT YOU SHOULD. Otherwise, you're essentially lying about the accuracy of your results.

If all of your errors are the same for voltage or current, write them in the V or I heading (for instance, V drop (V) +/- 0.05 V). It's also good to have an explanation as to how you calculated the errors and any attempts to minimise them.

Well, I was referring to the inclusion of errors. You really need to have them in even if they're not essential for VCE (but they're good physics!), but as I said, if they're all the same, you can list them at the top of each column. So do you need to include multimeter errors? You really should. Do you need to have them next to each reading? Not if all of them are the same, but you need to indicate somewhere that they are.

thank you.

How about the 'significant figures'?

Due to the common usage of standard form (eg. ), sig figs are used to maintain consistency, rather than decimal places.
However, make sure to work as accurately as possible throughout your working to ensure the precision of the final answer.
