Writing the formula for every question

Do you need to write out the formula you are going to use every time for every question in the exam?

Like for some question asking to find F when m=10 and a=5

Do we need to do this:
F=ma
 =10x5
 =50N

Or just

F=10x5
  =50N

Of course it doesn't seem to be much effort but some formulae may be long and repetitive for each question so I am just wondering.

Yeah, you have to write it out from what I can remember, apparently it constitutes as "working out". My teacher took a few bitchy marks off me even though I had gotten the question right and forgotten to write the formula.

I think so, but by no means take my word for it, I'm only guessing.

I don't think you need to write the common formula at the start of each question, but you do need to write a form of it.

Like, if solving for acceleration, don't put and then , instead write just the latter.

After doing a chapter of checkpoints, writing out F=GMm/R^2 100 times was not fun. lol

Write it out. Just writing numbers doesn't mean anything, and they won't give you consequentials if you don't show why you're working that way. Besides, if you just write 10 x 5, it's dimensionally incorrect. Giving the formula gives the units.

It is not necessary to write the formula in the exams, and by no means will you lose marks for not writing the formula(Given that you have the correct answer). The formula will only be used to award marks where the answer is incorrect. On that note, it is my recommendation that you write the formula anyway.
