Hi guys!

I'm doing first year B.Sc, and taking physics 1 as a subject, along with Fundamentals of Chemistry and Biology of Cells and Organisms. Does anyone know what calculator I'll need for those subjects?

Thanks,

Jason.

Just use whatever calculator you used in high school. Graphics calculators are nice, but a scientific will suffice.

You can use graphics calculators as long as they don't have programs or stored data on them.

Nice rhyme.

Thanks for the replies  :)
Is it any advantage to get a graphics calculator? I sold mine at the end of last year, but I don't mind getting one if there's an advantage to it? Or are the exams designed to totally not advantage those with graphics over scientific?

lol,i don't think it likely.

as Polky said, a scientific will suffice for the subjects that the OP is taking, which are basically science related (considering that he/she's a science student). you are cleary talking about the mathematical subjects, so I doubt a "scientific calculator CASIO" will suffice, lol

I'm pretty sure these exams are tech-free, but maybe a graphics could be helpful throughout semester

YUP.
Definitely tech free for those subjects - I personally did them myself :D :D

What calculators are allowed in Physics 1 exams?

"Calculators are permitted in accordance with the rules of the Faculty of Science. They may be used for the processing of numerical information only. They must not have been programmed nor should they store additional information. "

Does that mean only scientific calculators are allowed?
