Detailed Study Topic for SLA?

Hey guys, Im kinda struggling for a GOOD detailed study topic, can anyone give any suggestions? Thanks

Hi there,

I suggest you choose a topic that encompasses both culture and literature, as it allows you to give your own opinions without only stating facts. The examiners love students who have their own interpretation of the topic, rather than just rote-learning of dates, figures, etc.

The topic I chose was "the symbolism bamboo in Chinese literature" (中国文化中的竹子). You can substitute this with any other plant that have a cultural significance. What I talked about included: 1. the history of this plant as it relates to China; 2. its cultural significance / meaning; 3. ancient literature/poems that depict this plant; 4. its lasting spiritual legacy to the Chinese nation (i.e. what we can still learn from it).

Of course, it all depends on your ability.
