GasChromatography/Infared SAC

Has anyone done this yet?

Our school is doing chem some really weird way :/

We did chapters 1-5 during the holidays and started chapter 6 on first day so we've basically been doing chromatogaphy/nmr/infared/organic chem up until now. we're on chapter 11 right now and thats only 3 chapters till unit 4. apparently we're really far ahead which is a bad thing i suppose ==

We're completely skipping the volumetric analysis prac and doing another spectroscopy/chromatography SAC at VSECC instead

Has anyone done this?

We started chapter 1 to 5 at school and we're doing chapter 6 now. we have a quiz on it tomorrow. so i don't think ur ahead at all no offence. the chromatopgraphy prac apparently isn't as bad from pass examples. its more theory so if u wanna do well read about gas chromatography and get really familiar with it and like the carrier gas and the porous solid or soemthin. Theory question eg:
what is the carrier gas?
what is the purpose of the vicious liquid being coated on the proprous solid?
what is the stationary and the mobile phase?
explain the process of adsorption blah :
Explain the data record chromtoogram:
Explain the peaks
suggest whcih peaks could be which substances:
and yeh...

We are doing organic chem before instruments of analysis because our teacher thinks it makes more sense that way. I think it's weird.

My teacher is just leaving IR out until after we've done organic Chem.

My school is up to chapter 7, Spectroscopy. And how is being ahead a bad thing? It is odd though how you haven't done a SAC on chapters 1-5 (unless I am mistaken and you already have). More time for revision I say! :P

For the peak questions, especially on IR Spectroscopy, it's ideal you have a data booklet..as
all the 'main' bonds are listed there, in relation to VCE 3/4 Chemistry.
