Hi, If someone can give me a hand in correcting what I have written so far, I know it's pretty bad and doesn't really answer the question but I'm lost for ideas
(Btw I'm going to use the indian bashings somewhere along the line so you don't need to suggest that)
Anyway here goes, I think the first two paragraphs are a bit silly but I felt like waffling on haha

“What are our responsibilities as members of Australian Society in the 21st Century?”

Between 1910 and 1970, 100,000 Aboriginal Children were dragged from their families, in an attempt to create a “White Australia”. An initiative brought in by the Australian government, they proposed that if they could break the bloodline of Aboriginal Heritage, their traditions and cultures would be washed away, leaving Australia to be of fully European descent.

In 2008, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology to all Aborigines past and present, and vowed that he, his government, and the people of Australia will never let this happen again, neither now nor the future. He announced that he wished to create a future whereby we would bridge the social, economical and educational gap between our two cultures, in the hope that it would create equal opportunities for all races and religions alike. He proposed that this apology was an important step in creating a better future for Australians, and that every Australian shared the responsibility of taking action to better the lives of all Australians, both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous.

I myself have experienced very little of the 20th century, but in my short time have experienced many defining points of the 21st century. In an age where, due to the events of September 11, people find it daunting to attend public places, let alone airports, that were once a place of safety and comfort. I find this hard to grasp, partly because every since my earliest memories of an airport, hyped up security has been the norm, and to think that there was a world before my time where people trusted one another is astonishing. Because of this tension, Australian’s have stepped up to the task of protecting our country, and ensuring one another is safe wherever we go. But this is only one issue in the ever growing list of challenges that we face in the future.

In recent times, global warming and climate change have become a big factor in the lives of Australians. Whether it be using a purchasing a car, television or any sort of home appliance, we are being persuaded by the media to choose the eco-friendly alternative. In being exposed to the proposed facts and estimations of what could occur, it attempts to alter our decisions on what to use and how to use it effectively. If the estimated figures are deemed to be true, then it is up to Australian’s to lead the way in reducing greenhouse gases
