So if i didn't... that means i lose a mark?
I guess you'd have to circle it if the question asks for functional groups/you're presented with the structure. If they ask you to label it, I think alkenyl would be the correct name. Not sure if they're pedantic enough to take off a mark for the "alkene" name label.

I remember coming across it and I didn't think alkenes were functional groups either

VCAA 2008 Sample right? xD I was thinking the same as you, but I put down alkene anyways because I could see nothing else other than hydroxy.
