What mark is good to keep hopes up for 45+ in further maths for the first core SAC which ive heard is the most important.

Probably top 5 in a strong cohort. Yea the first is quite important as it is worth 40% but you can always do better in the next 3 module sacs

Basically, SAC marks don't count for anything.  It's not about the marks, it's the ranking (how well you do in the SACs compared to the rest of your Further Maths cohort) and more importantly, the exam.  I was ranked 20+ in my cohort but nailed both exams to get a 40+ while many people that were ranked above me in the SACs weren't able to achieve a 40.

So don't worry too much about the SACs.  I can tell you that I screwed up two SACs, one worth 20%.  But if you work leading up to the exam and familiarise yourself with it, you'll be fine.  :)

depending on your school just aim for one of the top students in your school (which will hopefully be scaled to a high A+), and only losing 4-5 marks over both exams will guarantee you around ~45.

So if I can stay in top 4-5 rank because I think there are around 60 people doing further in our year. Isnt it top 2.5% of the year level or something along those lines?

I heard that if you want 45+, pretty much every mark on both exams count.  1 mark lost is 1 study score lost.  So losing approximately 1-2 marks in both exams will get you around a 49-50.

As all ready stated in this thread it is the exam that matters. Further is very competitive so as Gloamglozer said right above your post 1 mark lost on the each exam equates to a 1 mark drop in your study score.

lol..sorry about my negativity, its cos today i was discussing further with my friends and one of my friends that did it last year was asking us what we got, and she said no matter how good you do on sacs if you stuff your exams up , you'll get a crap study score. I think she was acing her sacs but she got 32.

Further Maths at my school is quite popular. Three classes in total. One of its reasons was because a lot dropped out of Methods in Year 11.

Whoa! Is the cohort at your school strong? Mine averages A+ to Bs... I think.
