I thought similarly also but in Insight 2008, they said natural gas isn't. I answered vegetable oil isn't because its the product it produce with alcohol e.g. methyl ester which is the fuel. Are they wrong?

Oh, my bad. No, natural gas is a fossil fuel. Biogas is a biochemical fuel. [however, both are almost the same, mixture of methane and other light alkane gases]

And vegetable oil is technically a biochemical fuel, since it can be burnt. However, it can't be burnt in an engine. The transesterification process converting it to biodiesel allows more diversified usage.
