Drawing structural formula

When asked to draw structural formulae, would I be penalised if I draw them in straight chains, rather than showing tetrahedral arrangements?

Thanks!

No, you should not be penalized for using straight chains unless otherwise specified in the question.

Noway, I'm pretty sure you don't have to.

And I'm quite confident you can draw straight chains.

I second the opinion :)

Yeah you should be able to.

But apparently (this is coming from tsfx big lady) one year they penalized you for drawing it as a straight chain? So i find it safer to draw it with angles just in case as you have no chance of being marked wrong

Err even in data book they have amino acids in straight chains so no
But I do have a question about structural formula. When the question does not specify show all bonds can we chain up CH groups and functional groups? Similar to like semi strctural CH3-CH2-Cl-OH

Her excuse for the examiner report drawing straight chain, was it's difficult to show angles on computer...seriously?

Thats stupid, if thats the case then you may as well get the angles right and use a protractor to draw the angles. Surely, that is the most accurate representation

No, that is a phosphate ion, . There are no hydrogens in a phosphate ion. There are, however, in hydrogen phosphate, dihydrogen phosphate and phosphoric acid.
