Holy shit. It couldn't've been.

The Physics lecturer guy for the KLD/UMEP Extension Student Lectures said that he took 2 hours to do the Chem 2009 exam, despite taking 40 minutes to do the Physics 2009.

lets hope physics isn't this easy - i don't want to sit in the exam thinking i might have got something wrong for half an hour

If 09's exam is considered challenging then we most definitely will do well on the mid-years.

I don't think Chem is about challenging concepts as much as it is about little details. This subject is a LOT MORE pedantic than Methods. It's little things like being specific in error description, stoichemistry, question interpretation, etc that need to be mastered.

yeah, i hope the cover that's says 9 questions is a lie, and it's really like 11 haha!

more questions is good.  some people say its too much but get over it.  its an exam, not a stroll through the park.  you're supposed to be under pressure!

lol, yeah. 96% was the cutoff last year. Glad we're doing relativity at my school; virtually no content at all, and VCAA always uses the same questions :)

It is very pedantic.  It is a lot easier to limit the loss of marks in further/methods than it is in science.

Is it just me, or is it almost impossible not to lose the mark for sig figs?  One little screw up, and that's a mark gone...

My Physics teacher said that that's the hardest detailed study, and Further electronics is the easiest.

ANYWAYS, back on topic, to answer martoman's question, yes, amine would be fine.

A primary amine is in the form R-NH2, secondary amine is in the form R2-NH, and tertiary amine is in the form N-R3. All three are classed as amines.

Btw, I heard the length of the 2009 exam 1 was more of a concern than the difficulty

How did people find VCAA 2009 out of interest?  I made some very dumb mistakes, but time wasn't a problem like everyone was making out. I made the A+ cut-off, but still lots of room for improvement.  There was nothing difficult on it...

I personally loved last years exam.  I hope we get something similar this year. :)

...I finished it just within time limit >.< and I was rushing for the last 30 minutes as well

and 91%
