Importance of measurement, ratio and similarity in spesh

To all the current and past spesh students,

How important are the topics of measurement, ratio and similarity in the actual 3/4 course?
I am currently doing GMA and I am hating these topics, I'm fine with algebra though...

Thanks

It's useful (or even necessary) to know as a basis for certain questions where such knowledge will probably be required, but it's not explicitly part of the specialist course as a topic in itself.

You do not require these specifically but skills such as these do become useful in some question styles!

It's really just background info, or assumed knowledge.

like, you are unlikely to get a fully fleged question focussing JUST on those topics in an exam, but you may get a muliple choice question on it if youa re unlucky.

As has been said, don't drop spech just bcs ur not good at these, but a basic knowlege of these topics would be a good background.

now if you're not good at trig on the other hand, that's a different matter, but if it's just measurement, ratio and similarity, you'll be fine :)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Judging by your replies, it seems like I should still have a strong foundation in these topics just in case.

@tram: I think I'm doing okay in trig. I'm liking the trig and calculus in methods atm which I think are more important topics from methods that are included in spesh. Thanks for advice though.
