Hey guys…
I have to sketch some graphs for some vector related stuff.

Can you guys check to see if I have done my graphs correctly and if they are wrong, can you please correct me  and explain why it is so.



(a)   The scalar resolute of v on u
(b)   The vector resolute of v parallel to u
(c)   The scalar resolute of u on v
(d)   The vector resolute of u perpendicular to v

a vector resolute of a parallel to b can be thought of as "if b is now an axis, what would be a's value on the b axis?" so essentially you are breaking a into its components to vectors parallel and perpendicular to b

the scalar resolute is pretty much the magnitude of the vector resolute

its extremely hard to tell which ones are your answer, as they all have dotted line (sometimes even two) and OA.....

Parts a and b are correct. Parts c and d and wrong. To get a clearer picture of part d, see that the question wants a vector perpendicular to v. And yet the line you drew is not perpendicular to v, thus it is incorrect. Basically you want it to be perpendicular to v. And once you understand part d, part c should be a lot simpler.
