Carbonyl group and carboxyl group?

Say a molecule had a carbonyl and carboxyl group...how would you name it?

the only thing VCAA asks you to name with carbonyl groups are esters

We didn't have to name it though, they just wanted the structure which, as you said, is easily determined using the given NMR data and some logic..

For that question since I knew what a ketone was i immediately just went bang ketone thank you 2 marks.

I guess an understanding would be good if you are looking for mega marks.... but it aint in the study design. You are correct.

I just forget which is ketone and which is aldehyde... But yeah, quite simple...
