INCREMENT HELP PLEASE

(1/3) > >>

happyhappyland:
what do I need to do to get the increments because its VERY confusing.

On the melb uni website it says

High

Above 80th percentile (top 20% of all students enrolled in the subject)
   5.5
Medium

Above 60th up to 80th percentile (next 20% of all students enrolled in
the subject)
   5.0
Low

From Pass up to 60th percentile (of all students enrolled in the
subject)
   4.0

But thats percentile of students. Is that the same as the percentage u get? So assignments are worth 20% tuts 10% and exam 70%. So if I get say 65% total. I get the 5.0? or do i need to beat 60% of the students

vexx:
Yeah i was confused by that as well, but since i highly doubt monash is different, i need to maintain a 60% average for a 5.0, and just pass (50%) for a 4.0, its nothing to do with student rankings..

happyhappyland:
my friend said last year people needed to get 80% to get that 5 increment

schmalex:
It's pretty fucking self-explanatory. If 80% of people enrolled in that subject do worse than you, you will get an increment of 5.5. If 60% of people do worse than you, you will get an increment of 5.0. If fewer than that do worse than you, your increment is 4.0, regardless of your actual mark. Did you actually read it?

m@tty:
Yes, it says that. But at Monash I have been told it was based on your actual mark rather than the ranking as it said in the information.
